Guess what folks, I was invited to join in on another style challenge and this week’s theme is all about how to wear a maxi. To be honest, maxi dresses and skirts are always something I have trouble with. Not because I don’t like them, it’s just that being 5’11″ means they almost always end up looking like a midi or some strange in-between length on me. To add to that equation, I generally feel like I am wearing a tent in a maxi and being curvy doesn’t really help things in that department. That said, I really love this dress. It belonged to my grandmother, and even though I don’t have many places to wear it, this weird grecian 70′s dress will always have a place in my closet. Last week, the man friend and I took a mini-vacation to New York to get a little change of scenery, visit some friends, and see a few shows. We saw The Book of Mormon and Sleep No More, and both were fantastic in completely different ways. On our last day we ventured over to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and as you can tell from these photos, the weather was absolutely gorgeous and spring was in full swing. The cherry blossoms were amazing, to say the least. These photos don’t really do them justice.

Well, I’m finally getting around to sharing what I wore on the second day of the LuckyFABB conference. This ensemble was pretty simple overall, but something about having a cape attached to my dress made it just a little bit more magical. As you can see by the last photo, I made some new friends while I was in LA. These guys were trying to photobomb me, but I insisted that they join in on the photo shoot instead… they were good sports and obliged, so I figured I had to include them.

On an unrelated note… today is my birthday and I feel old.

Well, what can I say… this year’s LuckyFABB in Los Angeles was pretty awesome. Definitely my favorite one so far. I’m still getting caught up on life back in the real world, but I’m planning to share a more detailed event recap soon. In the mean time, I thought it would be fun to share what I wore on the first day.

I originally envisioned wearing a cobalt blue dress, but I couldn’t find anything I liked in time… so I ended up going with a little black dress instead. In retrospect I wish I would have worn something a little more bright and fun, but it was a great day nonetheless. Stay tuned for my day two outfit and the event recap!

I spent the past few days in Los Angeles at LuckyFABB and had a pretty wonderful time (stay tuned for a recap later this week). While I was there I met some fabulous ladies and they invited me to join in on their style challenge this week! The theme is Coachella inspired, and to be honest I was a bit out of my element on this one. I’ve never been to Coachella, and I’m not really a cut-off shorts and fringe kinda girl… so I had to do some digging around in my closet to create a look that would have the right vibe without feeling totally awkward on me. The result is probably not the most amazing look in the books, but I gave it a shot. Be sure and check out all the other bloggers participating in the style challenge!

Anyone that knows me well, knows I am a sort of a cat lady. Actually, I think it’s safe to say I am a sucker for furry critters in general. If you’ve been following along here for a little while I’m sure you’ve seen that my dog Newton has made a few appearances on the blog… but my cat Quasar has been patiently waiting for his debut.
